Power Cords and Power Modules

Which do I need?

Power Cord

A Power Cord is the cable that plugs into the wall outlet on one end and connects to the Power Module on the other end. A typical Power Cord is shown below.


THERE ARE GENERALLY 4 TYPES OF AC POWER SUPPLY / ADAPTER's  MAINS CABLE CONFIGURATIONS are as follows:

• TYPE C5 - GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS "CLOVERLEAF" or “MICKEY MOUSE” WITH A 3-PIN      CONNECTOR


• TYPE C7 - GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS "FIGURE-8" WITH A 2-PIN CONNECTOR


• TYPE  C13 - GENERALLY REFERRED TO AS "KETTLE" TYPE - THE STANDARD CONNECTOR USED BY MOST DESKTOP PCS, MONITORS, PRINTERS ETC.


• MOULDED - SOME AC ADAPTERS HAVE A MOULDED CONNECTOR , EITHER UK, EURO OR USA TYPE - In that case NO EXTERNAL MAIN CABLE WILL BE NEEDED.

 

Power Module (AC Adapter)

A Power Module or AC Adapter connects to the powered device (Printer, Scanner, Laptop, etc.) and converts the AC input to the power levels required by the device. A typical Power Module is shown below.
